  • [Wanted] NAM1181 Rear Shock Absorber Bushes

I'm in need of a pair of NAM1181 rear shock absorber bushes (the larger ones) unavailable from any dealers or Xpart. The last pair i bought from the club spares but stock now with John Corbett. If you can help with a pair of bushes, John Corbetts contact number or email, or the dimensions so i can look at Superflex Universal replacements. As a last resort i could dismantle my own car and get the measurements from the old ones but would rather not disable the car at this stage. Please pm with any info or suggestions. I will cover any carriage and packing charges.

The nearest i could find are from Superflex as a special order - 60mm O/D 16.5mm I/D and (this is the special order bit) 25mm thick in 90 SHORE. The moulds for the 60mm poly are 110mm long so you have to take 4 bushes. 7mm sounds a lot but it's only 3.5mm either side of the bush. I'm awaiting delivery and will update this thread as to their suitability when i get them. Superflex have a +-http://www.superflex.co.uk/index.php If anyone knows of a technical reason why this size can't be used or indeed another source please let us know.

90 shore would be much harder than the original I'd have thought.

You could well be right but i accepted Superflexs advice on that. He though 80 shore may not be up to the job. If they don't compress slightly under the recommended torque i may have to go for the 80 shore as you suggest. It's a bit trial and error at the moment.

I am probably going to need a pair of these soon. Any idea where to get some made up from or another car's that could be made to fit? Thanks

In the end the supeflex option didn't work as the made up bushes were just too hard. I refitted the old ones with the deteriorated side turned to face the inside of the car. As it turned out a club member on this site bought a number of NAM 1181's located in a dealership somewhere in Europe. He generously offered the surplus for sale on here and they were quickly snapped up. I was fortunate in being able to buy a pair. It may be you'll just have to wait for some to turn up and act quickly to buy them. I'm not aware of any that can be modified to fit but others may have a solution for you? If you had deep pockets you can replace all of these which include your bushes if he has any left https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Austin-Ro...p2047675.l2557 Failing that. Mini Technique had some last year and might still have a pair but I'm not certain, they bought the remaining Ledbury stock a few years ago 01253790189

Yes, I've found 3 sets of rears (2 sets new and 1 set used but mint) and 1 set of fronts.
let me know if you still need some.
