  • WANTED. Throttle cable for 1994 Rover Maestro Van 2L diesel

My cable is stretched and finding a new one seems to be a problem. The Diesel cable dIffers from the Petrol cable in as much as it has a solid ball fixed to the end that fits to the disel pump. Speedycables will make a new one bit require the exact length and as mine is stretched i dont know the original length. Does anyone ? Thanks, geoff.

If it is in situ couldn't you mark the position on the cable itself with pencil at full pedal press. Then undo the cable and hold it to the lever arm attachment at full control lever pull on the IP, and measure the difference? That might work to give you the extra length due to stretch you would need to subtract from the length of the cable.

Have you have used up all of the length of thread on the cable adjuster to take up cable slack near the pump? If not that is your fix. If you have then you will need to reset that to near the beginning of the thread before measuring. I have a TD Maestro so I am assuming a non-turbo is similar.
