A rare item alright...wonder if there are any aircon cars left in this country?

there are. I've just brought a oxford edition montego back from spain last month, but it doesn't have that control panel listed above. there is a bank of 4 switches
above the heater controls. 2 are blanks, 1 is air recirculation, 1 switches the air con off or on. i'll edit later with a photo.

Surely all Montegos are "Oxford Editions"! I do know what you mean though. It's strange how they never sold a Metro "Birmingham Edition"!
