  • Carburetor Oil

    hello all.

I have been told several versions of this so thought I would ask a crowd that would know.

Can you tell me what oil you put in the carburetor of a 1.3LX. I haven't got a manual and would like to get this right.

Thanks for your help in advance
    Vic

There are many opinions. I use normal engine oil and I think that is what was originally recommended by austin/rover too. 10w40.

I have been told to use a thinner oil than the normal 10w40 as it is not running too well but I just can't remember the name or mix of the oil.

        ATF is another common one.
To be honestr on a standard car if it isn't running right then it probably only needs minor maintenance.

Have a read of some of the threads in the FAQ section. I think I wrote one on A series tuning many years ago.

The usual suspects to check first are the vaccum pipes though.

Cheers mate, but do you have any idea on how the vacuum pipes are supposed to be connected, I know there is 6 points altogether but what order they go in I don't know

would appreciate some guidance here if possible

I just want to say a big thank you to E.T.V for your help with my car not running right. It was the vacuum system that was set up wrong, if I see you at the next show burger and coffee on me! Thanks again nice one mate. My car now runs like a dream.

No worries. Glad it was a simple enough fix.
