  • Correct oil pressure switch for mg maestro turbo?

Could someone please confirm before I order if the below switch is the correct one. Mechanic has been round this morning to change mine but it was the wrong one and no motor factors open today. Don't last long do they! The one that's on has failed in less than 2000 miles. Cheers Andy

I can’t answer the question but I can say wherever possible but a branded part, old stock or even a second hand part is better than these Chinese generic ones. You did well getting 2000 miles from one!

the description implies that it is the right one, ie normally open and makes contact when pressure is reached, but I'd be happier getting one that actually said normally open in exactly those words, or initials.. May be worth trying Rimmers?

There are green ones and black ones, you want the green one.
Legacy EPC lists it (under Montego Turbo) as GPS133

according to the epc it is gps133, which Rimmers list...but I am fairly certain that this is the wrong one (if it is wrong on the parts list it explains the nightmare I had years ago with incorrect switches...), as it also lists the same part for the diesel, which I know is normally closed... hopefully someone on here will know more about the part numbers than I do.... it doesn't look as simple as it should be.. these will be well made and durable, they are designed for industrial use, but you'd need to add an earth lead to the common terminal, https://docs-emea.rs-online.com/webd...6b813e74d2.pdf they are not cheap though. https://uk.rs-online.com/web/c/autom...ons=4292093564 that would get you several ebay ones...

I can confirm that. EPC part number is a standard NC oil pressure switch. I fell foul by buying one from a Mini specialist, and eventually had to replace the original (thankfully nothing wrong with it). If you Google "Oil Pressure switch normally open" it returns quite a few options. Looks like there is a Hella one that could do the job - flagged as being for Volvo.

I searched this forum a while back as there are a few threads on this and the confusion around the two types. The conclusion was that Oil Pressure switch - GPS136 (normally open) was for turbo models

Worth double checking my findings and please report back and confirm this is right as I need to order one also!

Still haven't found a correct oil pressure switch! On the 3rd one now and getting desperate. The ones I have bought have been listed as normally open but turn out to be normally closed. Couldn't find the Volvo one or industrial one listed in the posts above. Local motor factors give me my old one back, said they couldn't get one and they had been in touch with rimmers. Has anyone got a direct link for one they know is correct or even a used working one lying about to get me away. Be nice to get the car working and taxed for 1st May ha, Normally gets taxed 1st April. Cheers Andy

The above one is green but not listed as weather it is no/nc. Are all green ones normally open?

That being an intermotor one might mean that the green is not as indicative of it's mo as it would be on a Rover one...if you are stuck, I've got a used one that some comedian had fitted to a diesel, I know it works because I changed it pdq after seeing the light come on at all the wrong moments ha ha ha...interestingly it is white...

John has kindly said he would post me the above switch but I am still going to search for a spare so this doesn't happen gain in the future.

The seller from the below eBay advert has got back to me and it is normally open but from the picture he has sent me from a brochure the pressure is 2.9 - 7.3. So I take it this will be no good?

it should be ok, as long as it puts the light out when there is oil pressure..I'll get the used one in the post in the morning, it is actually black, no idea why though...good plan having a spare anyway, ...
