  • Tank pickup

A friend has made what seems a fine bit of advice. Being as the fuel tank is now 30 years old, there is probably bits of allsorts in the tank. He suggested sticking a strong magnet to the bottom (outside) of the tank. Any bits of rusty metal will get attracted to the magnet, and not into the fuel system. My question is, does anyone know where the end of the petrol pickup pipe is in the tank. I know it'll be at the bottom of the tank, but where? Drivers side, passenger side, front, back? It'll be my luck to stick the magnet adjacent to the end of the pipe and block it!

more or less in the middle, depending on model, sounds like a good idea, I'd be tempted to put the magnet at passenger side, opposite the filler pipe, then the fuel coming in should wash the silt towards it..
