Sounds like it's the end of the road for your Maestro: I guess the fuel leak will be the result of the filler pipe being ripped out of its joint with the tank when the rear wing got bent.

What voltage do you have at the coil + terminal when cranking?
I am wondering if the bypass for the ballast resistance is no longer present (this comes from an auxiliary terminal on the starter motor).
You should have approx 10 volts there during cranking: if it is much less than that there...

A few suggestions for you:
Bonnet: Firstly, look at the top of the handle and make sure the cable is still correctly connected to it. Also check that the handle is still securely attached to the car.
Another possibility is that sometimes the cable can stretch or the latch can go out...

I had a few minutes to spare on the microfiche this evening and can add this info to the conversation:
R Series and S series are definitely the same as each other (thicknesses and part numbers). Thicknesses range from 0.097 inch to 0.149 inch. Part numbers run from CAM8758 to CAM8817...

Good news for you: any car put in to the scrappage scheme has to have current MoT and tax. Most importantly, it has to have been owned by the person scrapping it for at least 12 months and they have to submit a copy of the V5C registration document to prove this. ...

Maestro 1.3HL (Now SOLD 24/9/23)
It's time to move my Maestro 1.3HL on to a new home.
Consider it a rolling restoration or 'entry level' classic, as it would benefit from some cosmetic work but it is mechanically and structurally sound and has a long MoT.
