Turbo spec/uprated parts
This thread is for performance parts.
Turbo spec gearbox. This was built with a full set of new steel caged bearings, fitted with a type b diff. The box has been run for a handful of miles to ensure all is well and removed. This should be seen as a brand new gearbox, with bearings and put...Last edited by countrydude; 21st August 2014, 13:14.

maestro shell
Something tidy, will consider something that needs work but not major reconstructive therapy!
I'm down Bristol way for new year so if anyone is down that way with a maestro I could drop in and have a look.

Gone all German
I had to retire the monty last week. It had another shunt from a lorry this time. He decided to overtake a large queue of traffic on a roundabout and then merged back into lane while firstly bouncing of my rear passenger door, then onto the rear arch (the good one!) and then all the way down the back...

rumbling from rear (sounds like wheel bearings)
But I've lifted each rear wheel and checked for any play and there is none. It starts at just under 30mph and seems to level off at 70ish.
Could it just be that some dirt has got into the bearings and it is causing a slight wear?
I'm just used to hearing that sound and...

dish alloys - paint type?
Anyone know what sort of paint Rover used to paint these with? Just bought some nitromors to strip the paint back as they are bubbling a lot. It just isn't eating into the paint at all!

differences in doors maestro to montego?
I picked up a new door yesterday, I think it is a maestro door, can I fit the montego door trim to this easily enough? I've never stripped a door down so not sure if the fittings are the same?

Get to know your rights as a buyer of online products and services
I had a problem with a recent transaction on ebay. I bought some coilover springs and I got the id wrong, the springs were 2.25" when the shock bodies I had were 2.5" id. Anyway I arranged a return with the seller and at that time they mentioned I'd paid £49 but I'd only receive a partial...

front suspension rebuild and sourcing alternative parts
So I took the front suspension off my maestro. Although these are Leda coilovers they use the standard top bearings and those awkward slotted nuts.
They were a bugger to take apart and one of the slotted nuts was somehow damaged which caused some damage to the top section of the thread...

Underseal/ rust proofing products
I've been future proofing my car mechanically for a while. Looking at the wheel arches I made a call to my favourite welder. I'm going to cut out the rot from my wheel arches and cut plates up from spare wings I have.
Can anyone recommend any decent products to seal the back of the plates...Last edited by countrydude; 5th June 2013, 19:46.

Improving sound
I've been tweaking my stereo setup. I've always favoured alpine head units and I've had an amp for ages and finally got around to fitting it. I've got 6.5" speakers in the front and the estate only gives 4" at the rear mounted into plastic so not too ideal there. The amp is 50w rms per channel...
