if you are buying on ebay you have 180 days warranty. Frankly a mugs game. I'd go with a decent battery with 3-5 years cover at your local independent mechanic. You can put a unipart cover or something over it for shows?...

On something so important I'd think it through. Yes soldering is the norm but it can and will cause the wires to become very brittle especially closest to the solder. Wiring looms work well as there is no soldering. The wires are crimped into the plug for the ecu or internal car plugs and then crimped...

The l series one is a really good gasket, and no it won't fit! You'll find one if you look hard but be warned it won't be cheap

Either cut your own from a cork sheet or talk to perkins about a genuine gasket. Other than that you could try with some RTV sealant which will do the job but I'd personally go with the perkins route. It won't be cheap but frankly there is little alternative unless you want to make your own.

without removing all the pipework from the block it can be difficult to get the whole system drained. As long as you drained what you could have and now have a good level of coolant I'd not worry.

If this is supplied with all the brackets to fit a maestro then it could fit a montego easily. It will only be that you might need to make cut outs and extend the tail pipes to the rear bumper (the only difference underneath from maestro to montego!) But the tail pipe extensions would be off the shelf...

You'd have to fit another ecu that can run a coil pack rather than dizzy. So either live with the hassle or add £5-600 plus fitting and mapping to you project?

And your mention of a Vito is a bit off the mark. Try searching on a VW caddy. They are similar size, load capacity and possibly more economical than the prima.

I hope someone doesn't hack my account here and try to sell my car I don't have anymore! Or make outlandish comments that I daren't make myself...
I hate montegos!
Seriously, what harm can be done with this info?

Sounds like you need to go back to the insurance company and see how they arrived at their understanding of 'market value'. Giving them receipts for a mechanics parts and labour is no proof of a vehicles value however, we all know that. You'd need good photographic evidence of condition prior to the...
