As above they are only oil filled so won't spring open themselves....

Don't forget that the face level vents only ever blow cold air. The hot air comes out of the screen or foot vents only.

These are the gearbox oil seals (where the driveshafts slide into the gearbox) https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/MG-ZR-MG-...YAAOSwBahU9wHD
Unless they are leaking you don't need to change them....

Yes it is just a length of normal fuel line and is a VERY common cause of problems so swap it for some new hose....

Sorry just got the cap here. Isn't the timing all electronic on the R series as it is on all the other maestro engines?, i.e. just an advance rather than points etc inside it....

They are a little unusual. If you mean the distributor cap with 3 leads pointing one way and two the other coming out at 90 degrees to the normal direction - I've got one sat infront of me right now!
Make me a reasonable offer and I'll get it in the post to you.

With the engine running and handbrake off press the brakes hard.
Then pull up the handbrake
Then release the brakes and re-apply them.
If the pedal travel is massively reduced then it is likely the rear shoe self adjusters need attention (also check the rear cylinder seals for leaks...

Nearside engine mount is the biggest headache - but not impossible to make something. The rest are standard mounts or modified standard ones.
The non intercooled is the most simple as there isn't much to wire up. You do end up with some more interesting challenges though as the crank sensor is...

The difficulty depends on which L series engine you want to use, (There are 3 - well technically 4 types both available with and without aircon). Non intercooled (200/400), Intercooled VP37 (200/400/600), Intercooled VP37 (Freelander version), Intercooled VP30 (25/45/zr/zs)

I would guess he is referring to the injet/exhaust manifold gasket which is blowing. I would suspect the manifold may be warped and need its face machining flat again if the correct gasket was used.
Does the EFI have any braces on the inlet manifold like the turbo does?

It seems one of my posts got eaten. I did say straight after my first post - that the outer anti-roll bar links did change the size of threaded rod on them (due to them breaking) - early ones were thinner than the later ones and later ones wouldn't fit the early wishbone unless you drilled it out which...

If it is a turbo then swap out the carb balance pipe (The short length of fuel hose that runs from the side of the carb to the inlet manifold. It frequently perishes causing all sorts of running problems but primarily lack of fuel when on boost which is never good)....
