Happy Birthday Maestro
Happy 40th Birthday to the Maestro! I remember the day well. A prime TV advert at 10.15pm in the middle of News at 10 and a report on the news showing the ROK***Y cars at the press launch. The launch at my local dealer used an opaline 1.6HLS demonstrator and an oporto red 1.3L showroom car.

A nicely restored car but for purists it is a bit of a mix of pre and post facelift interior....

I can't imagine that this is a 1.3. As far as I am aware they never built a 1.3 estate. The DVLA enquiry service says it's a 1.3 but the MOT history states 1.6. The last MOT in 2010 shows 281k miles.

I am surprised that the driver's seat side bolster is as worn as it is, if it has only done 45k miles.

I would be interested in the dashboard if it is not cracked. I am assuming it is Flint Grey if it's a Clubman.

I think only the saloons were built to order. The estates were still selling well, particularly the Countrymans (or should it be Countrymen!) as they offered value for money 7 seats when MPVs were expensive and few and far between. The diesels had a good reputation as did the 2.0i "O" series....

I am fairly sure that on the early cars, only the HL upwards had folding rear seats but it became standard on all models later on.
