Started looking at the sunroof not working. There is power to the electrics then noticed this. As the motor is probably broken I stripped the end as I know its the same basically as a dynamo but a tiny spring went ping from one of the brushes and I couldn't find it so that's now scrap, not good and I did swear quite a bit
After doing a bit of research I found it's the same motor as an early Rover 213/216 and a Range Rover tin topped sunroof up to 1991. Found one complete with a relay so that's on its wayLast edited by Jeff Turbo; 27th October 2024, 13:41.1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car

Presents turned up today and a bit of research goes a long way, sunroof now working. Hasn't moved for many years up took it slow and easy, up down up down, back a little then front, back more then front until it goes all the way back. Plenty of WD40 and spray grease it now moves much better. Still a bit crunchy but that should ease up. Change the glass next then I can do the headliner and put the dash back inLast edited by Jeff Turbo; 31st October 2024, 13:22.1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car

Well I did try. Removed the knackered sunroof glass and got all ready to put the replacement in but the seal is too large/thick so the glass is stuck and the motor won't move. Removed the seal from another I have in my spares and ordered another as I couldn't find the one I bought 4 years ago. I sold on a few things 2 years ago and wasn't sure about the seal so ordered one for a mk2 GolfLast edited by Jeff Turbo; 4th November 2024, 15:34.1958 Ford Consul Convertible. I love this car
