  • Sourcing plastic windows (Lexan/Perspex/Polycarb) for a competition Maestro

I'm awaiting replies from 2 firms, but this firm can offer the following for the Maestro:

    http://www.templarperformance.co.uk/2.html

    can do:

A pair of front doors, with sliders are £125
the six piece side window kit (all 3 windows on each side of car) would be £195

Post is £12 in both instances (they go on size rather than weight).

I think you would need a bandsaw to cut the perspex with a nice straight line wouldn't you?

However, if anyone on here can make them then give me a quote...

Also depends on which material you use. There are lots of different types of clear plastic and some are MUCH better than others.

If the car is going to be used in competition, then it needs to be LEXAN.

Polycarbonate and stuff you buy from DIY shops wont do.

It needs to be 3-4mm thick. And unless your prepared to put in some serious effort at shaping it........your windows will not open and close.

I think we spent around 30 hours cutting, shaping and fitting the two front Lexan windows which go up and down as normal. We had to slice the window glass channel in half to accommodate the Lexan. The rear windows are fixed and the rear hatch was also done (these took about 3-4 hours).
