  • My Latest additions

Having done the 3'ms for quite a few years, in 2010 I decide to get back to my original passions and downsize the "M-Fleet".

This started with the purchase of my 130 defender, and a series 3 project Landrover (now sold).

I am now on the look out for another series project, but in the mean time, I have something a little different to play with.

The first two have arrived, of which one may be either repaired and sold or used for parts (white one).
I have one more to collect which has a fully rebuilt engine from "Specialised engines" as well as fully rebuilt g/box, overdrive and rear axle, but is also a spares car for both my yellow one and Fiona's Late fathers car (currently at MAPs under renovation).

    Here are the pics.

"Snow White" 1974 Scimitar SE5a 3.0 V6 (partially converted to Manual)
Cursery checks show body needs more work than "Mellow Yellow".

She came with most of the parts to complete the auto to manual conversion, as well as an extra set of dunlop composite alloys and a few box's of spares.
Last owner 22 years and garaged for 95% of its life.

Full Stainless exhaust system from (but not including) manifolds back, stainless coolant pipes, but standard tank(slightly rusty)

My car "Mellow Yellow" Languished in a garage for 7 years, but has lots of history and nice new bits fitted.
Also a 74 SE5a but fully auto, whith stainless fuel tank, coolant pipes and exhaust.
Here she is after a quick wash.
No interior or engine pics as yet, but will get round to it.
Quite a few small "surface cracks" in the paint, but they seem very shallow, so hopefully will polish out, or at least lessen after a good cut back.
I found a slightly bent but otherwise good condition matching load cover in the back too!. Bonus! :P

As for running, new battery and fresh fuel got her going almost immediately, but she has a major blow on the drivers front pipe.

And finally......... the spares car (going by basic inspection(more to follow on that)

            I collected the car today.

Initial inspection shows severe corrosion to the chassis, and plenty of surface rust in the engine bay.
The rear near side edge of the roof has a hole where a hinge repair was made. Otherwise I think the body may well be quite good if anyone needs one?
The interior is currently removed, and a reliant robin seat in the drivers position.
Carpets are u/s , seats may be recoverable after further inspection.
Spare chocolate brown leather seat set included SE5?
Powder coating on several of the composit alloys starting to flake but spare still good as was in the car.
Paintwork is so badly flaked off it makes it look bald!.
Engine turns well enough, but will have to check remaining mechanical's to see how they have faired after 22 years bare minimum movement.

With the corrosion issue of the chassis, and the exterior condition of the body, I fear this may well be only good for breaking up to support other cars.
It is now at the same restorers as My late father in laws Scimitar for a full evaluation, so only time will tell.

I'm sure the right person would have that body tub off you Mal. It looks quite sound other than needing paint and a few localised repairs. Anyone who's trying to restore a damaged SE5 would surely shake your hand off.
