  • My Brand New Magnette TSE!

I picked up the car last Friday and the clock now reads just over 250 miles! I have to say I feel completely guilty at buying the car at such a discount, but I had to go for it. It has every conceivable extra you can think of including full leather (very high quality), climate control, cruise control, electric seats which are heated, phone connection for your mobile, full sat nav, full computer message centre which even tells you when your tyre prssures are low! You can even fold your door mirrors in by pressing switches! The leather steering wheel feels great and chunky and the gear lever also feels great. In three words I love it! I can't believe they aren't all over our roads. Mind you, it's great driving a car no one recognises. The comments so far are 'wow, what's that!' I must admit, my 20" wheels off the ZTT set it off a treat, but the standard 18" are very nice, but a little boring. The Union blue colour is amazing too, with a great sparkle in the sun light. Sorry about the photo quality, I'll try and upload some better ones in due course!

        Very nice!

They're going to be even more of a bargain for the money after a couple of years.

Well, at £1**** on the road they can't get any cheaper for a brand new top of the range Magnette! Other dealers are selling one year old models for £1*/£1*K so grab yoiurs from MP while stocks last! Last time I looked they had 7 TSE Magnettes left and a few more of the S and SEs which they are selling for £**599 and £**599 respectively! These are nothing short of a give away by MP. Put it this way, I've told my insurance it's value is £20300, which is the list price for the TSE with metallic paint and all the extras. If it had a BMW badge on the boot it would be £30K+ straight away! Even in a couple of years I'd want what I paid for it!
I think the shape of the Magnette is spot on. It has such a rake on the back window and stubby boot, that in profile it looks like a coupe, albeit with 4 doors.I'm still pinching myself! Here's some better quality pics!

Didn't realise ZT wheels would fit. Wheels do make a car. Just a shame they don't do a rear spoiler & slightly broader side sills etc but agree they are none the less a very good car.

I would not be surprised if the features you mention do follow in the near future. After all there are plenty of specialist manufacturing companies out there in the UK who make such items for bigger automotive players, with the cost of designing, testing for production validation and ultimately putting such items into production not being that prohibitive. Not even for smaller companies such as MG Motor UK Ltd.

The MG3 shows that Longbridge is beginning to wake up to the need for buyers to have the ability to further personalise their vehicles in the area of colour and trim-related items. Such an approach will likely extend to the MG6 in due course.

If MG Motor UK Ltd themselves don't commission such items then it will undoubtedly be down to more specialist MG companies such as MotoBuild to cash in on, just as they did with replica Maestro MG Turbo styling items in the late 1980s.

That does look nice - they have an 18 month old one for £7k with 14k on the clock. For nearly new cars thats good and you certainly don't see many about!

I do think that residuals will suffer dramatically though with the factory discounts they are knocking out - if you keep it for a while though you will ride that out and its cheap new car motoring!!

                      Whats the interior quality like?

                      Enjoy!!

I think the MP deals are ridiculous for what you are getting. Most franchise dealers want at least £1*/£1*K for mine. I think once the Motorpoint cars are gone that will be the end of these kind of prices unless they manage to get more from the factory. Like you say, there are some very good nearly new deals out there though and I'd say worth a try. You won't lose much that's for sure. I intend keeping mine for a few years unless I see a similar deal in a couple of years time! My car is more or less the exact same price as an *********! Incredible! It really is great driving round in an eye catching car that no one knows about and is never seen on the road! It really does look like a £30K car especially when people see the interior and equipment

just looking at motorpoint burnley now, very tempting, how ridiculous were their trade-ins?

The price you paid is good for you & some others but does sadly not do the brand any favours in the great scheme of things as it will have an effect on resuduals. MG must have done the Motorpoint deal for a reason & will probably do it again unless there were exceptional circumstances as to why the deal was done.

I agree and kind of feel guilty, but I couldn't ignore! I certainly wasn't going to tell them I'd give them an extra few grand! The trade in deal was also ridiculous! They gave me £*250 for my 56 plate ZTT 160 with just 43K on the clock. I could have got more than double this if I sold private but could do without the hassle of selling. I'd have to have kept it insured and it could have been on the drive for months with joy riders turning up every weekend etc. It was an amazing deal overall so I'm happy!
