Does anyone know if the gearbox from a diesel 25 will fit a maestro diesel?

They are both the same box so yes. Ratios are the same. Speedo won't work though

Sender and the right speedo toothed gear. So it's a box open job

Yes - easiest is to swap the whole diff as the 25 one might not be machined for the metal toothwheel used in the maestro.

25 box is also stronger than the maestro one. You'll probably need to carefully fit maestro diff seals to it too (as the 25 box will come with the metal diff seals).

I was asking this back to front so to speak.

I actually have a box out of my old maestro diesel that I wanted to fit to the 25 diesel.

Will I get the speedo to work at all in the 25.

The maestro box is lower torque spec. you'll need to open up the box to swap the differential over. It is do-able and will work but to be honest it is going to be easier to source the right box (from a 200/400/25/45/zr/zs diesel) and use that directly.
