    If you look at the V5 you'll see they are classed as a kit car built "from parts not all of which may be new" (I think that was the wording or something similar).

    Yes they were cobbled together from various sources when they ran out of bits including scrapyards.

    regarding the later ledbury maestros.is there any truth in the story that last few maestro converted to right hand drive
    used a few old parts souced from scrap yards.i e the steering rack as ive replaced mine on a 2001 car in 2015 as when
    it was tested in a mot it failed due to roughness.the inner ball joint also showed signs of being worn out when I removed it.
    and looking on the e bay listings the last year or so they also had roughness in the steering racks.what about the dashboard
    the one on my car looks older then my 1998 version.was they short of new parts for the dashboard convertion as well
