  • Maestro van indicator self-cancel switch

1991 Rover Maestro van. The switch appears to be broken or isn't working. Each time I use the indicator, I have to remember to cancel it myself. Advice please as to what I need to replace it, and if another make such as Lucas for another BL car would fit please. None for sale on ebay it would appear, is this a common fault and are they hard to come by ? Thank you. Richard

The self cancelling works via the steering wheel. The notch in the steering wheel, as per picture, goes into a plastic slot on the indicator/wiper mechanism. If you remove the covers you will see it. Sometimes it can break or come out of the slot. If that has happened you'll need to fabricate a small bracket and push onto the steering wheel notch

Thank you Jeff for taking the trouble to respond. I am not technically skilled so I have copied your reply down and will pass it on to my local garage to see if they can help when I next in their area. Thank you again. Richard
