  • Water pump?

Been out for a run today and suffered a major water temperature issue. Water loss on a big scale, but no sign of a major leak nor water in the oil - level is still on full. So I'm suspecting a pump failure. Initial research tells me that these (the ones with the dog leg outlet pipe) are rarer than a rare thing. If they are, has anyone got one sitting on a shelf they would be prepared to sell me, if I need it, or point me to a supplier. TIA.

Panic over as far as #436 is concerned. Turned out to be the hose from the thermo housing to the heater rail had all but popped off the metal pipe. Also found the heater matrix pipes are weeping coolant. Only 3 years old, so hopefully as they are copper repro ones, I can solder a repair.

might be a good idea to test the thermostat before you refill it. you can still get the pumps if you want a spare, I think this is the one you mean.

Nice spot Robert! Pity it has been mis-advertised. GWP 190 is for the diesel engine only, not the Petrol. My thermo was working fine, all part of the checks in sourcing the fault.

That's a diesel pump. for future reference you need Quinton Hazell part number QCP2506, that's the correct waterpump for an MG Maestro/Montego Turbo and later model Efi's, ignore the picture https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/ROVER-MON...AAAOSwbzRbxdYp
