Marinised montego/maestro engine Identification

Hello,

I’m looking for help identifying the engine aboard my boat to replace the water pump cam belt and follower. I was told when I purchased the boat that it was taken from a montego/maestro.

Any help much appreciated!

It is a Maestro/Montego diesel AKA Perkins Prima/500 series, also virtually the same as Volvo MD22. The timing belts and followers are a the same (engine code BA or BB) . They are often on ebay. The water pump is not so easy to find, there was a firm in Wolverhampton that reconditioned them, but I think they closed down. As it is in a boat & you don't need the engine mounting on top of the water pump you could use an early Maestro diesel water pump which seem to be available still, or one from a Freight Rover 200 Di. If you get in touch with Sean Turnbull via either any LDV or Freight Rover group on facebook or by ebay messaging him via this item https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174982254732 I think he should be able to help. If you change to the cheaper/easier to find pump the cooling pipes will need altering, iirc Sean has done this mod in the past, so will know what you need.

No problem, did you get all the bits sorted out? You might find the haynes manual useful, they are usually cheaper than this ebay one https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/204801287254 & often appear at car boot sales etc The free alternative is this volvo workshop manual, not hard to spot the bits that aren't relevant, only downside vs the Haynes is the pages of safety warnings & insistence on using special tools, but it does have nice pictures of the tools, so you can make your own! https://www.nikimat.com/volvo_tmd_22...hop_manual.pdf
