  • Replacing strut top mount

Struggling to remove the front spring from the Monte - need to replace strut top mount as was an advisory on last MOT. I have managed to release one of the bolts on the bottom of the Spring but not the bottom as there isn't as much room for the wrench. Been using penetrating spray and keep working it - any nifty tricks anyone has?

Do you mean the 17mm bolts on the bottom of the strut? If so then I use a spanner wedged to hold the nut (or bolt - it depends on which way the previous person has installed them), and then a big bar and 6 sided socket on the other end. Remember you can rotate the steering wheel to give better access to the end you want to rotate.
