  • How to strip rear seats

    Fold the rear seats down

Undo the 2 centre bolts and pull the seats out from the centre

Lever out the centre clip from the centre bracket

Note! Still got the original seat cover plastic on

Starting with the larger seat. Undo and remove each side rod noting which way they go

Turn over and remove the 2 bolts holding the clip

Pull down the top of the cover till it clears the pertuding clips

Slide a screwdriver from the top of the side till the bottom. Do this both sides

    Then the bottom

Turn over, open the armrest, pull back the cover and undo the 2 screws

Note for reference the 2 pertruding rods and 4 slotted holes

Push down each side of the opening and pull back from the retainers

Pull back the cover to the centre rods/staples. Undo the staples, remove and retain

      Remove the rod and retain

Bend back the bottom of the foam

Remove the staples, rod and retain. Note the rods are a different size so don't mix them

The cover will now be free. To put back is the reversal. Inserting the rod and squashing the staples back etc

The smaller side cover removal is the same To remove the rear part up to bending back the foam

Remove the staples and rod and retain

Again to put back is the reverse. While the seats are stripped you may want to re-paint the metal surround

It's quite easy Russ to be honest.
I've have the whole of interior in bits now, seats, carpet, headlining, sunroof, dash etc and none of it is difficult.

A guide like this for the headlining would be great

Got a feeling that this has done this before but i'm not sure. You may have to search for it.
I have explained via pms or other etc how to do this many times but without piccys to a lot of Montego/Maestro owners.
If anyone want this, please post up etc as I have a few to do soon and will do something for the site etc but i'm sure this has been covered many times before somewhere.
