£475 ono
This is an opportunity to own an early MG maestro Efi, this in my opinion is the best model of the Maestro range. (no engine problems of the MG 1600, and and the red interior)
I am selling this car to make way for another Maestro to add to my collection, I currently have 5 (yes, really), so need to sell one on, with the MOT expiring on this one, and it needing bodywork that i am never likely to do, I have decided this was the one to sell
I wish I could keep it, but i just dont have the room. I have no intention on putting it through an MOT for that reason, i just need the space
I believe this car to have been well looked after, although the service stamps stop in 2002 (81,704) miles, this is because there was physically no room left in the book, the invoices for all the stamped services were not passed on to me, but i would imagine that if any services were done since then, there would be with all that paperwork. however, due to this, the last record of the cambelt being changed is at 62820 miles, 11 years ago.
I welcome people to come and view, it is currently stored off the road in a garage due to MOT expired, however it does stop/go as i only parked it up a week ago. i also did a 200 mile journey in it 3 weeks ago with no problems.

Power Steering, Electric Windows, Oil Pressure Gauge, Front Fogs.
Engine
The Efi engine is a beautiful engine, as it is fuel injected, she started first time, every time, over the rubbish winter we had. unlike many other cars of this age with carbs.
This car has a lot of service history and I think the engine is a testament to that, at 90,000 miles, it still pulls strong, I did a 150 mile journey in it 2 weeks ago, and it never missed a beat
The Cooling fan does not kick in until it reaches the 3/4 mark on the temperature guage, im not sure if this is standard, but i have replaced the thermostatic switch that controls this with a new one and it is still the same.
The oil light came on about 6 months ago, after ascertaining there was nothing wrong with the oil system itself, it became apparent there was an earth somewhere on that circuit.so i removed the bulb and fitted an oil pressure gauge (see picture)
115bhp and the capability for 115mph and 0-60 in just 8.5 seconds (when new!)
a whole second faster at 0-60 than a golf GTi of the same age
Bodywork
The Bodywork is this cars weak point. I have taken photos of the affected areas and rust spots, but the roof is the worst, It appears to have delaminated, and has turned to a rough sandpaper like surface.
also, a small amount of water can leak through the guttering near the front in sustained rain, I have temporarily cured this with some putty, but you will need to take the rubber strip out and seal with silicon for a permanent fix.
Drivetrain
She is a pleasure to drive, the gearbox in these really were the best fitted to the Maestro, firm gearchange and no clunks, rattles or other untoward noises.
She has a slight tendency to veer to the left, it could be the tracking.
Power Steering is fitted to this model, the system functions well, with no sqeaking.
Wheels
Included in the sale are the 5 spoke MGF alloys pictured, i think it may need 2 new tyres for an MOT, I do have a set of original 'Cheesegrater' type alloys with good tyres, but a price will have to be negotiated separatey if you want those.
Interior
The interior is complete, with MG red carpets and seatbelts (highly sought after as they switched to grey after this)
if i was being critical, i would say it is a little musty, due to not being used
the headling is in one piece and still on the ceiling, which is remarkable for a felt headlined maestro.
Front electric windows, working fine.
There will be no radio fitted
