  • [Wanted] MG Maestro Air Flow Sensor

For a 1987 MG Maestro EFi.

Mine does not run very well except when I disconnect this. I use the car infrequently, so if I then forget that I've done so before taking it to an MOT it can result in a spectacular emissions fail and an unwanted additional labour charge on the invoice while everyone tries to work out what's up.

If anyone can bring one along to Peterborough, all the better.

Are you sure its the airflow meter, i didnt think they ran at all with them disconnected. Other things which make them run rich are the fuel pressure reg and efi ecu normally after a spanner being shorted against the airflow meter

All I know is that whenever it's connected it won't idle properly and tends to be unpredictable sometimes stalling at junctions (which can be a bit inconvenient), and when I unplug it it tends to run a bit fast but does not stall. I guess I'll have to keep an eye out for cars being broken.

Try removing it and giving it a clean with some spray carb cleaner. (unplugged of course) as it is a hot-wire sensor.

You've got nowt to lose if it is beggered anyway.
