  • [For Sale] Breaking 1985 Marstro 1.6 & 1989 2.0 efi

    1985 maestro 1.6 hls 28,000 miles lots of good parts also 1988 mg maestro 2.0 efi not so good all parts must be collected as i dont have the time to post there are some pictures of the 1.6 on here may sell complete as its a shame to break

    How many miles as the EFi done, and is it a good engine?

        Hi efi engine has gone the 1.6 is an s series i think not sure about gearbox how do you tell

          All Maestros with 1.6 (and 1.3) engines had a VW built gearbox.

          Only 2.0 litre cars (both petrol and diesel) had the Honda-designed (but Austin Rover built) gearbox. This is true also of Montegos, except for the post-88 Montego 1.6 that was also fitted with the Honda 'box.

          So, how you can tell is that it looks like a Maestro, it isn't an MG or a diesel, so it must have a VW 'box.

            Have you got the bits of carpet that go around the rear wheel-arches by any chance?

                Just the grey ones in the boot, thanks. All the Maestros with fully trimmed boots had the same colour.
