They not have seat belts in the back in the first year of production? Looks nice, There is an immaculate A plate base maestro in beige in Darlington that I seen the other day, been spotted by a few people that have told me about it. Old man driving it I drove past him in the turbo and he never even looked at me so it must just be a car for him with him having no interest in it. I certainly looked, first maestro I had personally seen driving on the road in what must be 6 years.

They didn't have seat belts in the back in this country until the govt made it law the (in April 1986? Or thereabouts). Until then they were extra-cost options.

Love these early cars, take me back to when I worked in the hire department of an Austin Rover dealer. Always thaught the early Maestro's seemed very spacious in the front.

A friend used to own this car, and I can vouch that it is a good example. Not perfect but (being a surviving early car) is pretty free from serious rot.

yes it was not law to have rear seat belts fitted.
and was a extra cost option to have them fitted that goes for the rear parcell shelf. the car i purchased in early 1984 had no radio or passinger door mirror and i had to pay the extra price for a rear wash wipe which was already fitted

I have seen that car and its owner at a few show up here in Scotlandshire. He a genunie guy and the car is a tidy example. My A reg Maestro doesnt have a clock but does have radio. No ns mirror or rear wiper wash wipe. Dont think it has rear belts either. I know my Papas B reg Monti 1.6l never had rear belts and my own Digi dash one that Jeff now has didnt come with rear belts. The first owner retro fitted them into the rear parcel shelf.

It made £810. A very good result, I would say.
