Hopefully it will be looking 'mint' for the Club stands next year, especially if 2005 events are to focus on the Montego as mentioned in the related thread in 'Announcements & Feedback'

The car is now rot free apart from one door which still needs to be changed but luckily i have a new panel i got from Dan & Lindsey. Just pretty straight paintwork now really as all the other panels have been renewed. Looking forward to showing her off next year!

      Montego

Looking great! Would be great to see it next year sometime like Rich says. Just noticed you have 'Fancyplates' on it too...

Hopefully I can drag my lump of metal along too for it's first appearance.

Congrats Ed, those look wonderful. Another good job from Gareth.

Incidentally my father's Maestro VP is on its way to see Gareth very soon to have all the little imperfections ironed out and a rear door replaced where my mother reversed her honda into it!

Incidentally, if you need some Gold coachline to go with that Countryman decal I know where you might be able to get some.

              Hi Simon

Thanks. I am very pleased with the work. The car has literally gone from rusting hulk, to silky smooth monster in the space of a week! I am so keen to get the rest of the car painted now that the rust is no more.

I have not ordered the pin-stripes yet but I need gold and metallic burgundy as per the original design. I hear that Rover can only get the passenger side stripes now. If you know where I can get some, I would love to hear about it. I need enough to do the whole car on both sides. Cheers!

Car is looking good, should look even better with the door on. Will be nice to see it next year at some shows. As we never get many Montego Estates show up.

No reason why he can't be a current member.

I'd be more worried about the possibility of my mother parking next to you some time soon in her honda

Sorry for the archaeology in digging this thread up.
Just wanted to add my dealings with GK.
He had 2 cars of mine for restoration work totalling several thousand pounds. Neither car was finished despite many broken promises on completion dates, they were eventually taken back and to date no refund has been given. Detaill on each car below.

The work on my ERA Turbo Mini was completed to a low standard and was obviously rushed, why I dont know as he had the car 8 months after telling me it would take 4 weeks, only bodywork was started and not finished and nothing mechanical started. THe car was collected as a non runner and has had to go to a Mini specialist and have all the work undone and redone prefessionally and to the standard I require. This has cost me several thousand pounds on top of the money I paid GK, irreplaceable parts on the car were also damaged. It will be later this year before it is now complete.

My Maestro Turbo was in for a full restoration and was taxed and tested when delivered to GK, its now a shell with a few new panels attached that have been painted but are now all damaged, and only probably 20% of the work has been done and not to a good standard. The car is now beyond economical repair and lies in storage. Many new parts delivered with the car also dissappeared. He had the car / Panels for over 18 months and did very little to it. It was returned non running with parts missing.

So based on my experience I would not recommend anyone uses GK for car repairs of any type.

After this ammount of time I don't blame you for finally "Going Public".

After everything you have gone through (and Lost) with regards to GK, Im surprised you kept your cool for so long.

As far as I am aware you have given GK every chance to corrcet his 'errors' with regards to your cars, and as such he has'nt even bothered to keep in touch.

Lets hope no one else gets 'bitten' .

Nice to see you back with us.

He had been given nearly 2 years with #261 and well over 8 months with the Mini. I gave him every opportunity to sort the cars and since collecting them I have given him a few months to come up with some compensation, instead he has chosen to ignore every attempt I make to get in touch.

No one else should be ripped off like I have been. He went to ground just after I collected the cars and has not been seen on any forums since.

                          Update June 2008
Following instructions to a Solicitor contact was made with GK and a financial agreement reached, my decision to accept this was purely a commercial one, based on something was better than nothing.

All my comments and opinions remain that no one should trust him to do any work on vehicles of any nature.
