  • Base and City models and query

Has anyone got any press pictures of the Maestro Base and City models? They are really hard to find nowadays. I also need a bit of help aswell regarding the Maestro my neighbour had. I'm not sure what model it was. I have said in the past it was either a Base, City or Special model but I'm not so sure. It was an F-reg in white. It had no badges on it except for the front grille Austin-Rover logo with the name Maestro and it had Special spec mirrors in white. Also to add when at one time a wheel trim fell off it it had black coloured wheels.

Does anyone know if it was a Special or a Base model? I just cannot tell at all.

It will probably have been a Special, which by then was the base model.
The white color-coded mirror is the giveaway.

Thanks John. I remember when he brought it it never had the Special stickers on the body at all but with the colour coded mirrors it must have been afterall. I think its still going. I still remember the registration.

If it's still around, and if you know the registration, you can determine exactly what it was.

As an aside, I believe that the 'Base' or Maestro 1.3 was discontinued when the City and City X were launched. Can't remember exactly when, but I would guess approx. 1985.

I had a maestro standard 1.3 , it had the same trim as a city X. That was on a 85 B plate was good car did a fare few miles in it . The city and city X replaced that model so would have been around 85.
There was a special edition maestro "surf" model as well around 88 , model year. I think was same as a maestro special.
