  • Happy Birthday H54 YGW!

Today on the way home from playing football in Derby, my MG 2.0i passed its birthday milestone of 100,000 miles!! I know compared to many mines merely a young whippersnapper, so who holds the record for most number of miles and still going, and on what models?

F170 GGT isn't used much so it will stick to 91,418 for a while yet.

G699 GOJ has about 112k and still goes well, starts first time and never let me down once in two years of daily use. However, she is heading for the scrapper if nobody wants her because...

A82 WHR has a mere 46k on the clock. A long way to go before she reaches normal Maestro mileage.

My father's MG EFi did recently cross 220,000 miles. At that point we changed the engine because the oil seal on the oil pump broke. Otherwise it was till going strong and did still exceed 5200rpm in 5th :-) The new engine has just 50,000miles - so there is a lot in front of us...

My MG 1600 has done 120,000 miles, and the old engine was ruined (by the former owner) when crossing tooo deep water.

Mines on 129K. Fitted a new piston last year and found there was one thou wear on the bores so should get plenty more miles barring disasters.

66,000 miles is pretty low. Have you a picture of your TD that you can post up? What colour is it? Any rust? Mine's on 96,200 which my dad bought 2 1/2 years ago on 58,000 miles.

Top aspect about the 1.3 engine is that they are well proven e.g. in the mini and can be tuned to produce slightly more power than an MG1600! Apparently the sky is the limit(well, so I've read).
