  • Priming The Oil Pump On Rebuild?

I'm having my TD block bored out +1 so it's currently stripped right down.

Before reassembling does the oil pump need priming, and if so what's the best way to do it.

Years ago I built a ford lump and my mate filled the pump with grease or petroleum jelly or something like that.

Any tips before I cleanand prepare the world before the big rebuild.

It is not necessary to pack the pump with petroleum jelly on this engine. It is a practice used on some engines that are prone to air lock, the V8 rover engine for one. It is good practice to just build the pump with clean engine oil after you have inspected it for wear etc.

      Thanks G-force.

The engine is being bored tomorrow so I can collect it and start the checks etc.
