Does anyone know if it is possible to find the name of the supplying dealership or even the town of registration when a Monty/Maestro was new?

Go to the FAQ section of this forum. There's a list of registration area codes, so you can find which DVLA local office registered your car.

Also, download and print off the V888 form from the DVLA website and send it off. You'll get back a copy of every form the DVLA has for your car including the application for first registration - normally with the selling dealers details on it.
