  • The Maestro on foreign shores

    Hello All

I know that AR cars were sold in mainland Europe, but did they sell anywhere else?

The reason I ask is, I have just won on eBay a brochure for the MG Maestro put together by Austin Rover Japan

    Thanks

    Andrew

Yes I've seen a Jap van brochure so I guess they sold out there too.

Do you think they printed some brochures to gauge interest but then didn't take enough orders? We'd have seen some if it really happened, as with the MGR V8 and various Minis that have been reimported.

Rover took an R8 220 and 416 to Australia for a motor show but decided not to put them on sale there. They left them there afterwards but sold no more.

It is strange hold old the Range Rover looks in comparison. Anyway here is the single Australian 400 at a Rover meeting, looking very similar to the one of the stand:

In short, I'd have to see a picture of a Japanese Maestro to believe it. Lots of brochures were produced speculatively.
