That is not a likely explanation for these cars
Bit of a "stiff" reply Matthew?

The cars I'm sure I remember seeing in the sale... (BTW:I was there)

Where not "mocked up" / Dressed up" etc as "rally cars", even though there were a couple of works cars outside as well as works rally spares for them.

I will have to dig out my sales brochure for the sale but, there were a number of "performance project" cars within the sale based on Zr's and ZT's and as i stated above "IIRC" a couple were 1600's.

There were a number of incomplete performance project cars in the sale covering most body styles.(including SV's and "Speed" cars.
Many of which are yet to "see the light of day" since the sell off.

I did not offer the reply as an explanation, merely as a point of interest that S&R where working with "enhanced" ZR 1600's.

It is more than likely that the ones in the rally are either described incorrectly (due to being in the 1600 and under class) or have been given larger engines as has been suggested previously.

I thought that, so I added the wink.

I would have thought that if this a proper rally, the engine capacity would be correct for the class. As if the car wins an award this has to be proved. Not sure what its like now but when i was involved it meant head removal at finnish

I think you'd have to be a K-Series expert to tell them apart. I thought the blocks were all the same and the capacity was determined by the liners and/or stroke?

Seems to have been a bit of a stage of attrition with most people getting stuck including the maestro it seems.

You should see some of the photos of the other stuck cars. It looks like they've been in quicksand!

A stonking performance by the Maestro and its crew, I have to say. That said, my own brief experience of rallying a 1600 carb'd Maestro would indicate that they are rather good motors for this sort of thing...

15 days left I think. Not sure how many of them are rest days but I'd assume 1 or 2 will be.
