They have a couple of Great WC stages today, and apparently the conditions should suit the Maestro well.

All the more chance for regaining another place by the end of the day.

They are doing an excellent job, but would'nt it be great if they managed to regain there 5th overall position by the end of the rally!.

I know the Maestro's a decent car, light, agile, strong, and beautifully rebuilt..

        BUT

this giant-killing performance against faster machinery cannot be mainly down to the car; it is so remarkable that it must be heavily down to the skills of the crew, which are clearly impressive.

I dunno WHAT the girls are doing, but I hope they keep doing it!

the word seems to have got around - even in Africa - that they are easy to nick!

"The Jane Edgington and Gill Cotton Maestro was broken into when parked up at a busy gas station. The girls had gone next door to the Wimpy burger joint. Jane says they forced the lock with a screwdriver and nicked her camera."

          back to 8th tonight...

Oh dear they've come off the road today. Still in the race I believe though just lost 10 mins on their off piste adventure.

I was led to believe that, apart from one car (who apparently plans to drive back) they will be shipped by sea back to the UK.

The Girls are still 8th overall and 2nd in class but.........

They are having a missfire problem, which Jane believes is either poor fuel or a damaged exhaust valve.

But considering the temperatures they are now driving in, it could be a return of the fuel evaporation problem that was experienced before.

                    Mal.

Truly outstanding. Massive congratulations to the crew, Tony Fowkes & co, and Philip Young + the Maestro experts who contributed to the knowledge base building the car.

                                Highly impressive.
