          Nice.
If you were to use it to strip rust, instead of using a chemical stripper, how long would the exposed metal take to flash-rust again? The reason I ask, I've seen chemical rust removers which work really well, but if you're not more-or-less instant with some kind of etch-primer etc, flash-rust appears amazingly quickly.

If you get any bare "mild" steel wet then it'll flash rust in seconds. If you keep it nice and dry then it may stay in good nick for months. (moisture in the atmosphere will cause flashrust too).

After blast cleaning down to bare metal it is best to apply a coat of primer the same day.

Hi Simon - Will the sandblasting cabinet you bought clean aluminum?

Use glass beads instead of sand/shot/grit and lower the pressure for aluminium.

But yes with the right media it'll clean up aluminium, just not big enough to fit my wheels in sadly!

How does this blast box actually work & do you need an endless supply of sand?

Pour the grit in the bottom and the gun is attached to a supply pipe in the bottom. The grit just goes around and around.

An endless supply of air you will need. I have a 300litre tank on my compressor and its on more than its off.

Yep very air hungry, and you need to keep the grit dry for it to feed properly. It'll need changing occasionally but not often unless you are cleaning everything in sight!
