  • New to maestro ownership

well after finally finishing concourse rebuild on my mk2 escort rs2000 I've gone and bought a car I've been after for years so had delivered last week mg maestro turbo build no 384 it's been stood 12 years so it's needing love but it hasnt been touched for years but is 100% original apart from the bits that the tin worm has had its full service history with build certificate and 3 owners so it's my next project so get ready for lots of questions

I was looking at this, a good car at a decent price I’d say. The seller had his MG Montego stolen last week didn’t he? I know he’d had it for sale quite a while. Good luck with the restoration, just ask away with the questions!

Yes bought the car from a bloke in rugby called Andy he's a good bloke he was lucky and got the montego back
as for the maestro rebuild Andy sold me every panel to finish the bodywork all genuine rover panels 2 x wheel arches door skin for front door complete rear boot panel with rear light panels and a rear near side door in mint condition for 160 quid so I stole em off him really as for the finish it won't be concourse it's for my wife so she can put chairs and picnic stuff in boot for car shows while I take the rs2000 it's too precious to me to even risk scratching the paint in the boot it's taken me 3 years to finish it with every single part of the car either refurbished or replaced with oe parts and I've said I will never go as far again with a refurb as I did with the rs but it will still be having a full shell bare metal rebuild and respray
