    hi, does anyone know how to remove the crash pad from an early meastro dashboard ,cant seem to find a diagram anywhere,[in manuals] and dont want to damage anything.

    I presume you mean the one around the instrument binnacle and not the passenger one?

    Grab it at the top and yank it sharply forwards. Then do the same at the bottom. There is no gentle approach I know of and you are likely to break some of the clips. They are most likely to stay in the dashboard, but pull them out and clip to the surround before you put it back. This makes it easier to line the clips up with the holes in the dashboard, rather than aligning the back of the surround with the back of the clips.

      hi, thanks for the reply,no i mean the one in front of the passenger,[its described as crash pad in the only book i can find about it ] but doesnt say how it dismantles.

        Why do you need to take it off? There's not normally any reason to do so.

            The centre console is held in by four screws and your radio, far easier to remove that and less chance of breaking something.

              re crash pad

              hello the crash pad is screwed from the rear if i remember correctly
              and will not give you access to the fag lighter anyway.
              if your going to remove fag lighter with out removeing the dash as a whole you can get access from the panel above in side the glove box the glove box.
              its abit of a struggle getting your hand up in side.and hope the nut is not to tight as you cannot get a spanner on it.dave

                many thanks for the replies, will try that.just didnt want to break anything, as p/o did his best to do that,trying to source parts, restore as im driving it, once again thanks for input.
