  • Perkins Prima Engine Blocks?

Ive just stripped down my maestro TD after the engine only being fitted for 6 days

Number 4 piston has melted and number 3 is starting to show signs too.

I plan on having the engine rebored to +1 due to the cost of the perkins prima parts offered to the forum recently.

I have a non turbo engine on the drive, what's to stop me from stripping this one and getting it rebored ready to build it up as a turbo engine using the stuff off my knackered lump?

Any advice if it can be done or any issues I might come across?

    Cheers

One other option is to turbocharge the non turbo engine and just keep the setting low?

But it probably won't last too long again.

I don't think the NASP has underpiston cooling jets in it, and the pistons are different NASP to turbo but that is about the only difference to the engine itself.

It is unusual to see a piston melted (unless it has been running petrol) so I'd have the injectors checked out to make sure everything is ok with them.
