First post on here so a quick hello!
I have a friend who is trying to rescue a Maestro 1.3 HLE,
It has had an oil starvation issue and needs a bit of a rebuild really.
I know the Mini A+ engines reasonably well, but I'm struggling to find what differences in engine components there were between the Mini A+ and the Maestro A+
The engine need stripping down and parts replacing but I'm not sure whether the Mini bits will be suitable (As there are loads of replacement parts & suppliers for the Mini components)
It looks like it's going to need:
Timing Chain
Timing Gears
Main Bearing
Big End Bearings
Water Pump (I believe a GWP 188 will be OK?)
Oil Pressure Switch (a GPS133?)
Rear Main Oil Seal (These were oil seals & not scrolls like the Mini?)
Oil Pump (4 Bolt Type GLP138?)
Head Studs
Any help would be greatly appreciated to keep this Maestro on the road!
Also is it worth changing from the electric auto choke to a manual choke carb?
SU/burlen listed an FZX3000 previously for the conversion, but this is NCA and no idea if it'll come back. Is there another option? Or is it just best to stick with the original setup?
