He made himself look stupid by making no attempt to answer his own question. Even more so as he appears to work in the trade. People learn far more by being made to think rather than being spoon-fed the answers. He'd got 2 numbers off the engine, the V5 would have shown which was correct - by format if nothing else.
The V5 is in the filing cabnet in the garage , which is pretty much full or dads tools as were moving garage..so cant get to it..
Also , Most Eng Numbers i come across are "ATK" "AWG" And so on..
Also , i dont think i ever need the engine code unless doing a ECU Scan , then i look on the engine for it.. {Normaly short , as above on a sticker on the engine or ingraved.} .. other than that , give the Chassis Number , most part suppliers know what your looking at
