  • Montego Diesel Driveshafts - Suppliers?

Hi everyone, new to the forum and to Montego ownership. I've got me a 1990 Turbo Diesel estate . In pretty good nick bar the usual rust which I will sort out in the summer.
I've been working my way through various little niggles, the main one being a grinding noise when pulling away (unless I'm very, very gentle) and under heavy (over 1/2 throttle) acceleration. I was told by the previous owner that it was the clutch release bearing, but I'm not convinced as that would rumble if knackered even if I was very gentle with the clutch. So, I'm pretty sure its the inner CV joint , I plan to change the whole lot just to get it all done and off my mind. I'm having trouble tracking down new driveshafts though, the outer CV's are fairly straight forward to source but the driveshaft with integral inner joint.....I cannot find.

Can I take them to a specialist to have them refurbed, or are there any suppliers of new ones that anyone knows of?

Any help, advice appreciated. I hope to start an album of the works soon

    Cheers.

Yes take them to a good motorfactor and they'll either get you an refurbed one to exchange it for (or you may have to wait to have yours refurbed).

However I'd look first at the exhaust alignment as when not quite right the exhaust tends to hit the subframe where it passes though it particularly on acceleration. Simply slipping the front section further into the mid section (or out) may well fix it.

Thanks for the help, I'll definitely check the exhaust before I go ripping out driveshafts!
