Hello everyone! I need help. I restore Austin Montego 1985, engine 1.6, left hand. I do not know how to connect the vacuum hoses to the carburetor HIF 44. Please send photos, which can be seen as a connected hoses. Or check my photos with hoses numbers and write the order of connection. I would be very grateful for information on adjusting this carburetor and the most frequent faults.

5 goes to the hot air flap on the intake manifold
6 goes to 4 I think (the manifold)
3 goes to the ECU (1)
The screw is the mixture adjustment screw

    Sorry I can't remember the rest as I've not had a 1.6 since I was a teenager!

        Hello strast

Pipe no.1 connects to both no. 3 & no. 7
Pipe no. 2 is the float chamber ventilation hose. There should be a small rubber tube connected, this then connects to a metal pipe bolted to the engine. this pipe is open to atmosphere.
Pipe no. 4 connects to no.6
Pipe no 5 connects to the hot air flap under the air filter box.

Here is a link to some information to help set up your 1.6 montego

          Hi Gary,
Your link to that 2005 thread was useful.
Is there a later "post ERIC" version (mine is a 1991 1.6)?
          Cheers!
          John
