Golf Shocks/Springs

Hi,

I'm looking into potential suspension upgrades and I'm reading that MK2/3 Golf front suspension fits with minimal modification. Does this include both shocks and springs?

The fronts of the Mk2 will fit with just a small amount of filing/grinding of the shocks (where the lower part slips in to the wheel hub the shocks are a fraction of a mm wider). But the rears don't fit as the golf ones are MUCH longer, in the region of 6 inches or so.

Has someone mounted the golf shocks 2-3? what cushions do you use? I'm going to give it sporting use
