reclocking montego

i need to reduce a clock from 99,555 to 29,182. is there a safe method, apart from sticking a drill up its rear end.

there's a very good instrument specialist in Redditch, Richard Jenkins (07747 357044). He's just recalibrated a Smiths speedo for my MG Midget and has done a first class job. You could do a lot worse than ask his advice or get a quote.
