  • mg1600 PAS conversion

Has anyone done this? If so whats involved? I havn't really looked into it much yet and nothing comes up with a search so just need a few pointers please

    Its an R-series

We broke an EFI (too far gone) so we have all the bits from the power steering from that

    cheers

I don't think the R-Series engine was ever available with PAS so you wouldn't be able to bolt on the parts from another car. The S-Series was available with PAS but these engines, though similar to the R-Series, were rotated 180 degrees.

So whilst it's not impossible, you'd need to fabricate/manufacture all the required brackets and I don't think anyone has done it before.

Having said all that, I have an MG Maestro 1600 R-Series and have never yearned after PAS.

By the way - do you have any pictures of the car?

Thanks for the reply. im kind of going off the idea now anyway but I'll keep what you said in mind.

I have loads of pictures but its currently in about 6 different colours and awaiting a respray. Its a rally car and with 205's its a little harder to steer.
