  • Spring Colours.

Going to get a set of springs powdercoated for the Montego. Should I go for satin black as they would normally be or do them red?
If red will it look wrong, is that something that may have been done around 1990?

Depends on how low the car is. If lowered then pretty much any colour will be invisable (unless you have very "hollow" alloy wheels fitted).

If at standard height then black or bodycoloured (depending on what colour your inner arches are), would be my choice.

      Ride height is standard.
      Body colour is red.
Inner wheelarches have been stonechip painted in gloss or satin black.

I'd be tempted for black myself.

However another option is to get them done in red and see what they look like.

If you don't like it then rattle can them black whilst they are still new.

I'd say black. That's how I'm doing mine. It just looks more classy and subtle.

Guess it's really subjective and there's no right/wrong.
One of my MGs has yellow brake calipers at the front and I think they look absolutely hideous. First proper chance I get they'll be painted black to match the rear drums, or maybe red. But I personally wouldn't want red springs to match.

They've gone to the Powdercoaters today & I said gloss black along with a battery tray with bracket & 2 front bumper fixings all for £30.
I painted the calipers red last summer.
