R-series metro

Has anyone ever fitted an R-series 1.6 and vw box in a metro?

I wouldnt have thought there would be sufficient height for it.
there was a rallycross metro that had an S series and vw box though. If I remember right it still had hyrdrogas on the front and a beam at the rear.This wasin the late80s so it predated the K series with end on box
