  • Roof transplant?????

Does anybody want to admit to having cut an entire roof off a Maestro Clubman in my local breaker's yard (Looms, Derby)

Is this a serious restoration project, or did somebody just fancy fitting a sunroof?!!

Did Uncle Albert use it to mend his tin roof?

In the Derby area it may have been used by one of the MGOC racers to repair a rolled or damaged shell. Couldn't tell you for sure though.

I know someone who has just done a roof transplant on a maestro turbo

            Not an easy job mind...

It may have come from the fire brigade as a training car

Something of a legendary place among breakers yards, although I've never visited.

Definitely not a fire brigade special: I saw it before the roof got chopped! (quite a tidy car, actually........)

Two Maestro vans in there at the moment as well, one of which is an ex-BT yellow van with some red handpainted bits and also some wood trimming attached to the bodywork in the style of a Minor Traveller

Everybody should go and pay Uncle Albert a visit in their lifetime. Spent many happy hours in there myself

Looms looks very much like Billy Bridges at Peese Pottage near Crawley.
