Maestro literature & ARG video giveaway at Rustival
If anyone is going to Rustival this weekend and would like some or all of the these items then I am happy to give it away. It includes factory manuals, training materials and some Austin Rover videos. I also have an unused 13" wheel and tyre from about 1985 - tyre is useless obvs but the wheel...

Now all gone, collected by a forum member this morning. I've still got some factory manuals and training guides which I'll bring along to the AGM to give away and if I can find it an unused road wheel from a 1985 Maestro.

Hello Charles. I did offer them to someone else on the forum, recently sent a note to see if he still wants them but if he doesn't or I don't hear back within the next week or so then they're all yours.

Original buyer had change of mind, no problem with that, these things happen. However I need to move these parts on.
I can deliver them to the Maestro 40 event at Gaydon on Jul 9th if that suits or they can be collected from me in the LE17 postcode area as long as it is no later than weekend of...

I'm sure you're correct. Mine was an early car with an automatic choke and I think that's all the ECU did. Sorry for adding confusion.

I had something similar on my 1.3 a few years ago. The overheating flashing light came on even before the engine fired. A £15 replacement ECU from eBay solved it, along with a load of other starting and running problems.

The model identifier for the car is the 4th and 5th characters of the VIN so for Maestro that is XC. (Montego is XE). The six digits at the end are the unique number for that car and from memory Maestro began at 100000, so as Bill says yours in theory is 16,181st built.
This logic isn't 100% foolproof...

There was a discussion on here a few years ago, not 100% conclusive but it seems that Sparkle Silver would be too bright, Silver leaf would be closer. I have an unused Halfords rattle can of silver leaf which I'll throw in with the others parts when you get them.
here's the thread

Job lot of (mostly) Maestro parts
I need to create space in the garage so the Maestro parts need to go. These were gathered over a number of years when I had an 2.0 EFi and then a 1.3 Maestro. The 2.0 litre specific parts have already gone so what is left is either generic to all cars or 1.3 specific.
I am happy to receive a reasonable...

Hello Carl (drcarlos) I am not sure my PMs are getting sent so if you haven't seen my response drop me a note to and I'll send you notes on what I can remember of the car.

ex Russ Swift Montego 1.6
Quite a well known car this one. Belongs to a former work colleague of mine who pinged me a note to let me know that he has it listed for auction with Car and Classic, starting on 18th Jul.

Jeff, definitely the end of an era when that happens. I for one have really got a lot out of your great restoration threads and wise advice, freely given, as I am certain others have too.
I am sure this last Montego won't hang around for long once it is on sale.
