WANTED: Maestro/Montego 1.3/1.6

Over the next few weeks I'm going to be starting my Maestro/Montego hunt. If anyone knows of the following for sale, could you please post here or e-mail me at magazine@maestro.org.uk?

• Austin Maestro (Plastic bumper) or Montego. Due to my age and insurance being a pain, MGs and (from what I've heard re. others) Rovers aren't really viable.
• 1.3 or 1.6
• Five speed preferred
• Must have MoT
• Must be structurally solid
• Would prefer a high-ish spec car (HL, HLE, Mayfair, VP) but I'll consider anything that's available - there aren't enough good ones left to be fussy over spec!
• Preferably not a blue interior - but as above, due to numbers left I'm not THAT fussed about it
• Preferably North of England, but will travel for the right car

Under £750 ideally but could stretch to £1000 at a push for the right car, the cheaper the better (student, budget, whinge etc) but condition is the main thing for me to bear in mind - it will be my only car so it has to be roadworthy and solid.

It's certainly reasonable - and I'm acquainted with the owner via other forums - but it isn't really what I'm looking for. I'll bear it in mind, but I want to see what else comes up first.

Well, the door-bottoms are patchy and the headlining's sagged all the way to the front, but it looks straight and original otherwise. Very high spec, too...

As if door-bottoms and head lining sag can be considered serious problems on a Maestro...

Paul, Gothbiker, has a 1.3LE that he may be selling. He is currently ill, so probably won't be on for a couple of days, but I spoke to him yesterday and he seems to have given up on the car. I believe that the MOT has run out on the car, but it looks solid and Paul says that it has never been welded.
